Very true, tools of any sort have a tendency to make work easier and a laziness can infuse the process resulting in a simple, or faster process that produces an item of lower quality, quantity as quality. It isn't good at writing yet. Take the very first sentence of its rewrite, " “All good things come to those who wait.” It’s a well-worn line, but like many enduring sayings, it comes from a poem—one that tells us patience is not just a virtue but a necessity for progress." I don't get, "...but like many enduring sayings..." The word "but?" That makes no sense, it turns the whole sentence into an error of thinking. And that's not what the line "tells us." The point of using the line, for me, is it is out of context and if you read the whole poem you get that. Patience isn't always wise. So right off the bat you have words that sound good, seem and I guess are logical to the AI, but are nothing more than pointless "pretty" prose. Carnival barking nonsense.
We are worried that students are writing papers using LLMs. What about professors? Don’t tell me this isn’t useful to them!
